Pilot and Six Passengers Safely Escape Crashed Plane in Missouri Skydiving Mission
In a dramatic turn of events, a pilot and six passengers on a skydiving flight were able to escape a small plane just moments before it crashed in a field near the Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri. The incident, which occurred around 1 p.m. on Saturday, was confirmed by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Authorities revealed that the aircraft involved in the crash was a single-engine Cessna U206C. Although details surrounding the cause of the crash are still scarce, initial information suggests that the plane was engaged in a skydiving mission. Thankfully, the pilot and all passengers successfully parachuted off the plane before it went down.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that there were a total of seven people on board the aircraft during the flight. While the pilot was found safe in a hangar at the airport, the six passengers also managed to parachute to safety before the crash, according to local news outlet KCTV.
Paramedics quickly arrived at the scene and provided immediate medical attention to the pilot and passengers. Fortunately, all individuals involved in the incident were released after their evaluations, as confirmed by the Bates County Sheriff's Office.
The crashed plane was discovered by first responders in a hayfield located east of the airport's runways. Unfortunately, the aircraft was deemed a "total loss" by the sheriff's office.
In the aftermath of the crash, NTSB investigators will undertake the task of recovering the wreckage. It will then be transported to an offsite facility for further examination.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions during aviation activities. Although the cause of the crash is still under investigation, it is reassuring that all individuals on board were able to escape unharmed.
