Starting today, businesses in Pennsylvania are set to offer customers a new range of refreshing canned cocktails. Previously, these popular pre-mixed drinks such as High Noon and Surfside were exclusively available at state-run liquor stores. However, thanks to a recent bill signed by Governor Josh Shapiro earlier this year, the sale of 'ready-to-drink' cocktails has been expanded to various establishments across the state.

Under the previous state laws, cocktails containing spirits like vodka, gin, and tequila could only be found at Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores. On the other hand, hard seltzers like White Claw and Truly, which are made from fermented sugar and do not fall under the category of true spirits, were already permitted for sale in stores.

Just last month, businesses such as restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, and convenience stores were given the opportunity to apply for permits to sell these highly sought-after canned cocktails. As of today, the lucky establishments that have received the necessary permits can now offer customers a variety of canned cocktails. Ranging between 0.5% and 12.5% in alcohol by volume, the cocktails can be sold in containers up to 16 ounces in size.

To ensure responsible sales, a maximum of 192 ounces of product can be sold per transaction. For example, this would equate to a 12-pack of 16-ounce cans. With these regulations in place, customers can enjoy these enticing beverages with peace of mind.

In addition to the expansion of canned cocktail sales, new legislation that went into effect last Friday allows bars and restaurants to extend their happy hours. Previously limited to 14 hours per week, establishments are now able to offer happy hours for a full 24 hours per week, providing customers with more flexibility to enjoy their favorite drinks at discounted prices.

Not only that, but the new law also permits establishments with a liquor license to offer enticing food and drink combinations. Furthermore, establishments can now include up to two drinks in the cost of a ticket for a self-sponsored event, offering customers even more value and enhancing their overall experience.

With these exciting changes, Pennsylvania businesses are ready to spice up their beverage offerings by providing a wider range of options to satisfy their customers' tastes. The expanded availability of canned cocktails and the enhanced happy hour regulations are expected to bring new energy to the state's hospitality industry and create a more vibrant social scene.

As always, it is essential for both businesses and consumers to adhere to responsible drinking practices to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. So, cheers to the new era of canned cocktails and extended happy hours as Pennsylvania embraces these progressive changes in its beverage landscape.
