Penn State Wrestling Dominates Edinboro with Shutout Victory

Penn State wrestling showcased an impressive performance as they secured a resounding 55-0 shutout win against Edinboro in a dual meet held on February 25, 2024. The victory marked Penn State's 12th consecutive win in the dual season, closing out with a perfect 12-0 record and an 8-0 standing in the Big Ten Conference.

The match was highlighted by Penn State's dominant display, earning 25 bonus points from four pins by Bartlett, Kasak, Haines, and Kerkvliet, along with five tech falls and a forfeit win. The meet concluded with Kerkvliet, ranked No. 1 at 285, locking up a cradle and pinning Nick Lodato at 1:27 in the first period, delivering the fourth pin of the dual and sealing the shutout win for Penn State.

With a remarkable attendance of 6,389 fans at Rec Hall, Penn State showcased their wrestling prowess in front of their dedicated supporters. The team's next challenge will be the 2024 Big Ten Championships scheduled to take place on March 9-10 at the University of Maryland.

Penn State's stellar performance was recognized through individual victories as well, including Davis securing a tech fall against Caleb Edwards, Nagao dominating Eamonn Jimenez, Bartlett pinning Jacob Brenneman, Kasak defeating Colin Roberts, Haines pinning Gannon Jaquay, and Starocci and Truax earning tech falls in their respective matches. Brooks also claimed a victory with a tech fall against Jack Kilner, while Kerkvliet's swift action led to a notable pin against Lodato.

The Nittany Lions' success on the mat was a testament to their skill and determination as they now set their sights on the upcoming Big Ten Championships, aiming to carry forward their winning momentum and make their mark in the wrestling arena.
