The Baltimore Orioles made an announcement today regarding the activation of infielders Jordan Westburg and Ramon Urias from the 15-day Injured List. These key players have returned to the active roster, providing much-needed support for the team. In corresponding moves, outfielder Daniel Johnson and infielder Livan Soto have been optioned to Triple-A to create space for Westburg and Urias' comeback.
Westburg, who had been sidelined due to a hand fracture since July 31, is back in action for the Orioles. The 25-year-old had a standout performance before his injury, with an impressive slash line of .269/.317/.497 and 18 home runs in just 420 plate appearances this season. His return is expected to bolster the lineup alongside standout players like Gunnar Henderson and Anthony Santander, providing additional offensive firepower for the team.
The versatile Westburg has been a crucial piece for the Orioles, playing both second and third base effectively. His impactful presence allowed the team to navigate through various lineup configurations earlier in the season, ensuring lineup flexibility and stability. Additionally, Westburg's emergence has helped ease the transition for top prospect Jackson Holliday in his initial experiences in the majors.
Meanwhile, Ramon Urias, known for his solid contributions on the field, has also excelled in a part-time role for Baltimore this year. With a .252/.327/.427 slash line in 95 games, Urias has been a reliable asset for the team. While his defensive performance at third base has faced some scrutiny, his offensive capabilities add depth to the Orioles' lineup. Urias' return is anticipated to provide further support for the team's offense and reduce the reliance on Holliday, especially against left-handed pitching where Holliday has struggled recently.
