**Oregon Ducks Remain Unanimous No. 1 in AP College Football Poll**
The Oregon Ducks have held onto their unanimous No. 1 spot in The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll for the fifth consecutive week. Despite narrowly defeating Wisconsin 16-13, this marks the third week in a row they have received all 62 first-place votes. Oregon also retains the top position in the College Football Playoff rankings, with hopes of achieving their first perfect regular season since 2010 when they face Washington in two weeks.
The top five positions remained unchanged with Ohio State at No. 2, Texas at No. 3, Penn State at No. 4, and Indiana at No. 5. However, a significant shakeup could be on the horizon, as Indiana is set to compete against Ohio State in what is expected to be one of the most anticipated games of the season.
Notre Dame and Alabama both climbed two spots, while Georgia re-entered the top 10 at No. 8, following their 31-17 victory over Tennessee. Mississippi, which did not play this week, moved up one position, and Tennessee, despite their loss, dropped four spots but managed to stay within the top 10.
Big Ten teams continue to dominate, occupying four of the top five positions. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) also boasts significant representation with five teams in the top 10. In a substantial fall, BYU dropped from No. 7 to No. 14 after a 17-13 home loss to Kansas, putting them in a first-place tie with Colorado in the Big 12. Colorado, coached by Deion Sanders, has achieved its highest ranking since December 2016, sitting at No. 16.
Group of Five teams have made noteworthy advances, with four programs featuring in the Top 25, the highest number this season. Boise State at No. 12 leads these teams, ensuring them a guaranteed playoff spot. Additionally, UNLV re-entered the Top 25 at No. 23, joining Boise State from the Mountain West Conference. The American Athletic Conference is represented by Army at No. 18 and Tulane at No. 20. Tulane’s move from No. 25 to No. 20 marks the week's largest promotion, bolstered by their dominant 35-0 win over Navy.
LSU has notably fallen out of the rankings for the first time since October 2022, following their 27-16 defeat by Florida, bringing their record to 6-4 and ending a streak of 36 consecutive polls in which they were ranked. Meanwhile, Arizona State appears in the Top 25 for the first time since October 2021, securing the No. 21 spot after their win at Kansas State.
Missouri, Kansas State, and Louisville joined LSU in dropping out of the rankings following their losses. The latest poll highlights the continued strength and shifting dynamics within college football's major conferences, promising exciting matchups and potential surprises in the weeks ahead.
