OnePlus has recently launched the OnePlus 12R in the U.S. at a price of $599.99, touting impressive hardware at an affordable cost. The 256GB storage variant of the device was advertised to feature the UFS 4.0 standard, but it has been revealed that it actually comes with the slower UFS 3.1 memory.
In response to this misleading information, OnePlus' president and COO, Kinder Liu, has issued a public apology and announced that customers who purchased the 256GB storage version will be offered a full refund. The offer is available until March 16, 2024, allowing users around a month to take advantage of the compensation.
OnePlus is encouraging customers who bought the affected variant to contact Customer Service to discuss the situation and arrange for a refund. Despite the false advertising issue, the 256GB storage variant of the OnePlus 12R still offers great value, with 16GB of RAM and Qualcomm's previous-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset included in the package.
The company assures customers that they are committed to maintaining the high standards expected from their devices and aims to rebuild trust with their community. OnePlus' marketing team is expected to exercise caution in making future claims, knowing that customers and tech enthusiasts will be vigilant in verifying the accuracy of such statements.
