Ohio State men's basketball coach, Jake Diebler, has successfully landed his first commitment for the 2025 class with shooting guard Dorian Jones from Richmond Heights, Ohio. The 6-5 Jones is ranked as the nation's No. 60 prospect overall, No. 13 shooting guard, and No. 2 overall in Ohio for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.com.

Jones made the exciting announcement during a live YouTube session with On3Sports. He expressed his gratitude towards the Ohio State coaching staff, including the new members, for their unwavering support and belief in his abilities. Jones chose Ohio State over Rutgers, Michigan, and Missouri, citing the love and faith the coaching staff had shown him since his freshman year.

The talented guard emphasized that he was not only looking for a college program that could enhance his skills on the court but also shape him into a better person off the court. Jones expressed his desire to be appreciated for who he truly is, adding that all the schools he considered had been following his progress since his freshman year.

Reflecting on his recruiting experience, Jones advised other players to remain focused and humble throughout the process. He described it as a great learning experience and stressed the importance of staying committed to the task at hand.

Jones shared additional details about his commitment to Ohio State with 247Sports.com. He mentioned that Ohio State was the first program to start recruiting him back in his freshman year, and they had consistently shown interest in building their program around him. Additionally, Jones expressed his excitement about already knowing some players at Ohio State, including Devin Royal, whom he played travel basketball with during his freshman year.

As a key contributor to Richmond Heights' three consecutive Division IV state championships, Jones has earned a reputation for his defensive prowess and lethal three-point shooting. Alongside his defensive skills, he also highlighted his ability to make accurate passes and be a leader both on and off the court.

Despite a challenging season that deviated from their usual league schedule and featured tough opponents from across Ohio, the Midwest, and the country, Jones and the Spartans overcame obstacles and ended the year with a 19-9 record. Jones's stellar performances, including a standout game in the state semifinals and the state championship game, solidified his reputation as a force to be reckoned with.

Jones is no stranger to high-level competition, having played travel basketball with All-Ohio Red. His skills and performances in Nike EYBL action have contributed to his impressive resume.

With Jones's commitment, Ohio State currently has two scholarships available for the 2025 class, with the possibility of adding another through the transfer portal. The Buckeyes have also extended scholarships to several other prospects, including Ohio natives such as Darryn Peterson, Jerry Easter II, Antione West, and Niko Bundalo.

Diebler and the Buckeyes have already secured a commitment from guard Marcus Johnson for the 2026 class, reinforcing Ohio State's commitment to building a strong future for their basketball program.

Excitement fills the air as Ohio State prepares to welcome Dorian Jones to their basketball family, eager to witness him showcase his skills and contribute to their continued success on the court.
