Despite the addition of these new opponents, each team in the ACC will still play 20 conference games. Teams will face three opponents both at home and on the road, including two constant rivals. For North Carolina, these perennial rivals are Duke and N.C. State. Additionally, Pitt will serve as the extra repeat opponent for the Tar Heels.
The exciting news for North Carolina is that they will not be required to travel to California or Texas to face the ACC's new teams. This means the Tar Heels will have the advantage of playing these teams on their home court.
Looking beyond the conference schedule, North Carolina has already lined up two challenging non-conference games. They are set to face Kansas on November 8 and Hawaii on November 22, both away games. The Tar Heels will also be participating in the prestigious Maui Invitational tournament, where they will compete against Auburn, Colorado, Connecticut, Dayton, Iowa State, Memphis, and Michigan State.
Furthermore, North Carolina will be part of the ACC-SEC Challenge game, although the opponent for this matchup will be announced at a later date.
In terms of the ACC conference tournament, North Carolina will have the opportunity to compete for the title in 2025. The tournament is scheduled to take place at the Spectrum Center from March 11-15. The Tar Heels have a remarkable 14-3 conference record, giving them a strong chance of making a deep run in the tournament. The last time they held at least a share of the regular-season title was in 2019, with their last outright victory dating back to 2017.
As this year's ACC Tournament kicks off on March 12, North Carolina fans will have their eyes set on Washington, D.C., where the competition will be held.
With the reveal of the 2024-25 ACC opponents and locations, North Carolina basketball fans can eagerly anticipate a thrilling season ahead.
