### NFL Delays Bosa’s Fine to Avoid Election Controversy
The NFL postponed action against 49ers' standout Nick Bosa for sporting a "Make America Great Again" hat at a postgame interview, citing a desire to steer clear of election-related controversy. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the league decided to delay any disciplinary decision, hoping to avoid being perceived as making a political statement before the crucial Nov. 5 election.
The incident occurred following San Francisco's win over the Cowboys on Oct. 27, when Bosa crashed his teammates' interview, violating the NFL’s rules against players displaying personal messages. The rule, outlined in Rule 5, section 4, article 8 of the NFL rulebook, prohibits players from showcasing any personal messages during periods visible to the audience unless pre-approved by the league office.
The NFL's decision to fine Bosa $11,255 came 13 days after the hat incident, highlighting the league's cautious approach amidst a politically charged atmosphere. Steelers wide receiver George Pickens faced a similar punishment earlier when he was fined for wearing eye black displaying a personal message during a game on Oct. 12.
Despite knowing the potential repercussions, Bosa, aged 27, expressed no regrets, stating the act was "well worth it." The four-time Pro Bowler, who has achieved 5.5 sacks in nine games this season, also showed his support for Donald Trump with a celebratory dance during a recent game—an action that garnered praise from Trump on Truth Social.
This sequence of events underscores the NFL's careful navigation of political sensitivities in today’s polarized climate.
