As the highly anticipated NFL draft approaches this Thursday, there are reports of the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants considering a trade-up to secure one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2024 class. NFL Network's Peter Schrager revealed during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show that both teams have expressed interest in moving up to the No. 3 pick currently held by the New England Patriots in order to select North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.

Schrager stated, "I think Drake Maye goes at number three, and I'm hearing that the Vikings and Giants are trying to get up... If the Patriots aren't sold on Maye, they could trade back and draft JJ McCarthy. That's playing a DANGEROUS game though."

The Giants, who possess the No. 6 pick in the first round, and the Vikings, armed with the No. 11 pick acquired from the Houston Texans, have been identified as potential suitors for Maye. While speculation had surfaced that Minnesota had been leaning towards Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports confirmed that the Vikings' primary target in a potential trade-up is Maye.

Contrary to previous projections, which suggested that McCarthy was the Vikings' main focus, Robinson stated, "There is a growing consensus among NFL teams that McCarthy is not the primary target in a potential trade-up for the Vikings. Instead, it's believed Minnesota's top target is Maye."

Nevertheless, there remains a possibility that neither the Giants nor the Vikings will have the opportunity to select Maye. The Patriots, under the new leadership of head coach Jerod Mayo, who succeeded the legendary Bill Belichick, may opt to stay put and draft Maye as their franchise quarterback. New England had previously traded away Mac Jones earlier this offseason, leaving them with an opening at the quarterback position.

With the draft just days away, the NFC teams' interest in securing one of the top quarterback prospects has intensified. Whether it's the Vikings or Giants, or the Patriots deciding to retain their pick, the NFL world eagerly awaits the upcoming draft to see how the new generation of quarterbacks will shape the future of their respective teams.
