**Giants Rookie Receiver Malik Nabers to Miss Second Straight Game Due to Concussion**
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants will once again be without their rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has been sidelined with a concussion, as confirmed by coach Brian Daboll. Nabers will miss the team’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday night, marking his second consecutive absence after also missing last Sunday's 29-20 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaking about Nabers' condition, Daboll shared, "He'll be doing stuff out of the field more like he was doing the last two days. He won't make it for Sunday." The No. 6 draft pick remains in the concussion protocol and has not participated in practice this week, though Daboll refrained from commenting on whether Nabers is still exhibiting symptoms, stating, "I'll leave that in-house."
In his absence, Darius Slayton will continue to serve as the No. 1 receiver just as he did against Seattle, where he impressively recorded eight catches for 122 yards and a touchdown. The Giants, currently with a 2-3 record, might also be without running back Devin Singletary for a second week. Singletary has been limited in practice, and as of Friday, Daboll seemed uncertain about his status for the game. Rookie running back Tyrone Tracy, who stepped up with 129 rushing yards against Seattle, may again be called upon to fill the void.
Nabers had initially shown signs of a possible return earlier in the week, engaging in light running with a trainer on Wednesday. However, his activity was minimal during Thursday's practice, indicating he remained within the same stage of the concussion protocol. "I'd say he's got a pretty good concussion," Daboll noted, emphasizing the severity of the injury without delving into details.
Despite making more progress on Friday, including running sprints and catching passes in practice, Nabers ran out of time to be cleared for Sunday’s game. According to league rules, a player in the concussion protocol must complete "club-based non-contact training drills" and be cleared by a team physician before getting final clearance from an independent neurologist.
The Giants are aiming to have Nabers back when they face the Philadelphia Eagles next week. Questions arose on social media after Nabers was seen attending a Travis Scott concert at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday night. Daboll, however, confirmed that Nabers did not violate any team rules but chose to keep any concerns internal.
The injury, which occurred while Nabers attempted a catch near the sideline against the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago, has halted what was a historic start to his NFL career. In his first four games, Nabers made NFL history with at least 25 receptions and three touchdowns. So far, the LSU product has accumulated 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns this season.
