In a surprising turn of events, a co-defendant in the 2020 Georgia election interference case has announced that a new witness is ready to testify against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should evidence be re-opened in her disqualification proceedings. David Shafer, a former Georgia Republican Party chair, filed a notice proposing the testimony of Cindi Lee Yeager, a co-chief deputy district attorney for Cobb County.

According to the filing, Yeager claims to have had "numerous" interactions with the defense's star witness, Terrence Bradley, and can corroborate his claims that Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade began their romantic relationship earlier than they both admitted. Yeager's proposed testimony states that Wade initiated the affair with Willis during her campaign for District Attorney in 2019, and it continued through 2020.

Yeager alleges that Bradley, who was Wade's former law partner and divorce attorney, shared "personal knowledge" about the affair, including details about the use of Robin Yeartie's apartment and other meetings before November 2021 when Wade and Willis claim their relationship started. Yeager also claims to have overheard a phone conversation between Willis and Bradley in September 2023, where Willis allegedly told Bradley not to talk to anyone about their relationship.

The motion submitted by Shafer requests that if the court re-opens the hearing to receive additional evidence, Yeager be permitted to testify regarding these matters. However, it is unclear if Judge Scott McAfee will allow Yeager's testimony to be admitted.

The disqualification proceedings against Willis revolve around allegations that she benefited financially from her affair with Wade and should be disqualified from her case against former President Trump. Willis and her office are leading a series of racketeering cases against the former president and 18 co-defendants. Several co-defendants, including Shafer and Michael Roman, have accused Willis of hiring Wade while they were involved romantically and benefiting from his government salary through luxurious vacations.

Willis and Wade have denied these allegations and claimed that their romantic involvement began after Wade was hired in 2021. However, witnesses have come forward stating that their relationship started as early as 2019. Terrence Bradley previously testified under oath regarding the details of their relationship but struggled to recall important details during his testimony.

Judge McAfee has heard closing arguments on the matter and is expected to issue a decision within the next two weeks. The inclusion of Cindi Lee Yeager's potential testimony adds yet another layer of complexity to the ongoing drama surrounding Fani Willis and Nathan Wade.
