The legal troubles for Sean "Diddy" Combs took a significant turn this week as six new lawsuits were filed against the music mogul, further plunging him into controversy. Represented by Houston-based personal-injury lawyer Tony Buzbee, the lawsuits stem from allegations of sexual assault made by four men and two women, dating from 1995 to 2021.
The shocking claims detail a pattern of behavior involving the alleged use of drugs to incapacitate victims. According to the lawsuits, Combs purportedly favored the use of Rohypnol, commonly known as a date-rape drug, and GHB to facilitate non-consensual sexual acts. It is alleged that these substances were secretly administered in alcoholic beverages at Combs's parties and absorbed through skin contact via lotions and body oils.
The implication of baby oil is particularly startling, as prior seizures by federal agents from Combs's properties included over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. Combs's attorney, Marc Agnifilo, initially tried to dismiss the vast supply as a result of bulk buying for a large household. However, the lawsuits claim that the oils were sometimes laced with drugs, rendering victims immobile and easy to exploit.
One notable case, filed earlier in July by another accuser, did not initially mention drug-laced oils. However, the accuser's lawyer, Ariel Mitchell-Kidd, later suggested in an interview that an oil used during the assault may have contained substances that caused her client to lose control over her body.
Meanwhile, the narrative shares similarities with a previous lawsuit filed by Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura in November 2023. Ventura, who was romantically involved with Combs at the time, alleged that he directed his assistants to stock rooms with baby oil and Astroglide before certain events, known as Freak Offs. In her lawsuit, she claimed to have been given GHB by Combs but stopped short of asserting that the oils were drug-laced.
Combs's legal team has staunchly denied all allegations in the new lawsuits. "In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone - adult or minor, man or woman," they asserted in a statement, countering the growing number of accusations.
Attorney Tony Buzbee signaled that this may be just the beginning, hinting at more litigation on the horizon. "We expect to be filing many more cases over the next several weeks naming Mr. Combs and others as defendants," he stated, indicating that the storm surrounding Combs is far from over.
