Apple enthusiasts and tech enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new iPad Pro models, which are rumored to be the biggest refresh since 2018. While these highly anticipated devices promise significant improvements, reports suggest that they will come with a higher price tag.
One of the main reasons behind the rumored price increase is the incorporation of cutting-edge OLED display technology in both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. Apple is said to be utilizing top-of-the-line OLED displays that will revolutionize the viewing experience.
These OLED displays will employ the most advanced form of technology, combining a hybrid glass-polyamide film with two stack tandem OLED, effectively utilizing two layers of pixels instead of one. This innovation not only enhances brightness but also reduces the occurrence of burn-in, a drawback associated with larger OLED screens.
However, with such sophistication comes an understandably higher cost. Presently, the 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, while the 12.9-inch model begins at $1,099. Initial rumors suggested that the price increase for the new iPad Pro lineup could be substantial, with estimates ranging from $1,500 to $1,800.
Fortunately, more recent reports indicate that the price increase will not be as drastic. According to DigiTimes, the OLED iPad Pro models are expected to be approximately $160 more expensive than their predecessors. This implies that the starting price for the 11-inch model would be just below $1,000, while the 12.9-inch variant would start under $1,300.
Renowned Apple analyst Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has also substantiated the claim of a price increase for the new iPad Pros without providing specific details.
Considering the already debatable pricing of the iPad Pro, especially when combined with the cost of accessories like the Magic Keyboard, the introduction of the M2 MacBook Air at $999 poses a compelling alternative for many consumers. With a lower price tag compared to a comparable iPad Pro, the M2 MacBook Air might attract a considerable audience.
Additionally, the 11-inch OLED iPad Pro has piqued interest among fans as it hasn't received a display upgrade since 2018. The transition to OLED is expected to offer a highly dramatic improvement in display quality, further adding to the anticipation surrounding the new models.
As the launch date of the new iPad Pros approaches, tech enthusiasts and Apple lovers are eagerly awaiting further details. Will the rumored price increase be justified by the groundbreaking OLED display technology? Only time will tell.
