Authorities in Seminole County have released new information regarding the disturbing carjacking case of Katherine Altagracia Guerrero de Aguasvivas, a 31-year-old woman from Homestead, Florida. The incident occurred on April 11 in Winter Springs and tragically resulted in Guerrero's death.
After the carjacking, authorities discovered Guerrero's burnt SUV with her lifeless body inside in a rural area of Osceola County, just south of Orlando, less than two hours later. Alongside the vehicle, investigators found 12 shell casings of 10 mm rounds.
On Friday, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office confirmed the detention of 28-year-old Jordanish Torres-Garcia, who has been identified as a person of interest in the case. Torres-Garcia was connected to the purchase of the green Acura sedan involved in the carjacking. Authorities linked him to the crime after he posted a picture on social media wearing the same outfit he was seen wearing during the incident.
Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma emphasized that Torres-Garcia is currently being labeled as a person of interest for legal purposes. However, evidence, such as matching phone numbers and a striking resemblance in the photograph, strongly indicate his involvement.
Despite Torres-Garcia's detention, law enforcement officials are still searching for at least one other suspect believed to be connected to the carjacking. Cellphone records reveal that the last person in contact with Guerrero before the incident was Giovany Joel Crespo Hernandez.
Unanswered questions remain regarding Guerrero's purpose for being in Seminole County and her relationship with the individuals of interest. Authorities are actively investigating the motive behind the tragic incident.
In a surprising twist, it was revealed that Francisco Estrella, a deputy with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, is now facing allegations of illegal interference in the carjacking homicide investigation in Seminole County. Estrella, aged 33, bonded out of custody on Thursday and is accused of impersonating a cousin of the victims while contacting the lead investigator. Estrella's attorney claims that the deputy was merely attempting to assist a family friend and had no involvement in the carjacking or murder.
The investigation into the carjacking and subsequent death of Katherine Guerrero continues, as law enforcement authorities work diligently to bring all involved individuals to justice and uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
