In a move to prioritize user privacy, NBCUniversal has introduced new measures for residents in certain states listed in their Privacy Policy. The media conglomerate is giving users the option to opt-out of the sale, sharing, or processing of their personal information for targeted advertising activities.

Residents in the specified states can now submit a form to ensure their name, email address, and associated personal information are not sold or shared for targeted advertising purposes. To complete the opt-out process, users can simply toggle the "Allow Sale of My Personal Info or Sharing/Processing for Targeted Ads" option to OFF by moving it to the left and clicking "Confirm My Choice."

However, it is essential to note that these choices are exclusive to the brand's website or app on the particular browser or device where the opt-out is made. Users must repeat the process for each site or app they access and renew their selection if they clear their cookies.

For users in other locations not covered by the aforementioned states, these choices will not apply even if they toggle the button off. NBCUniversal states that such users may continue to see ads, although they might be less relevant and based solely on the company's first-party information.

The Privacy Policy also acknowledges the involvement of online ad partners, who may combine the personal information made available by NBCUniversal with data from different businesses to provide a more targeted online experience. Such activities may fall under the definition of "selling" or "sharing/processing" for targeted online advertising as per applicable law.

To further enhance user privacy, NBCUniversal is providing an opt-out option for the use of email and other personal information related to targeted advertising activities. Users can complete an Opt-Out Form to exclude their email and associated information, such as their name, from targeted advertising initiatives.

The company advises users to consult their Cookie Notice for more details, accessible through the Privacy Policy found in the menu settings page. Additionally, mobile app users have the ability to control their precise geolocation permissions through their mobile device settings.

As NBCUniversal takes steps to respect user privacy, residents in specified states now have greater control over the use and sharing of their personal information for targeted advertising purposes. By providing clear opt-out options, the media giant aims to empower users to make informed decisions about their online privacy.
