### NBCUniversal Implements User Data Preferences for Targeted Ads

NBCUniversal has introduced new measures to help users manage their personal information for targeted advertising purposes. This initiative aims to give residents in specific states more control over how their data is used, enhancing their online experience.

Users can now sign up for free newsletters to receive more tailored content from CNBC directly in their inbox. This service provides updates on CNBC’s products and services, enhancing user engagement with the platform.

Furthermore, certain online advertising partners might combine personal data provided by NBCUniversal with information from various businesses. This data aggregation is crucial for targeted advertising, as specified by NBCUniversal’s Privacy Policy. Under applicable law, this process may be deemed as "selling" or "sharing" information for targeted online ads.

Residents from specific states, as detailed in the 'Your Rights' section of NBCUniversal's Privacy Policy, have the option to opt out of data selling or sharing for targeted advertising. Users can manage their preferences through a simple toggle mechanism on the website or app, applicable to the specific browser or device in use. To opt out, users should switch the toggle to 'off' and confirm their choice, which will close the dialogue box. Importantly, this preference must be set on each website or app and on every browser or device individually.

For those outside the specified states, opting out does not apply, but users will still see ads based solely on NBCUniversal’s first-party data. Additionally, users can modify their geolocation permissions via their mobile device settings and manage their preferences across different sites and apps.

Critical to the service functionality, certain cookies are necessary for security, fraud prevention, and enabling purchasing capabilities. While users can block these cookies via their browser settings, it might affect certain parts of the site’s functionality, ensuring a balanced approach to user control and site performance.
