NBC has unveiled its highly anticipated fall 2024 schedule, featuring three new series and a lineup of special programming. Among the highlights is the placement of the popular show "Found" on Thursday nights, following the hit series "Law & Order: SVU."
The new medical drama "Brilliant Minds," starring Zachary Quinto, will make its debut on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET, immediately after "The Voice." The post-"The Voice" timeslot is known for its success in drawing audiences, making it a prime position for the highly anticipated show.
"St. Denis Medical," a mockumentary comedy series set in an Oregon hospital and featuring Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, and David Alan Grier, will kick off Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. This series, originally scheduled for release in 2023, faced delays due to the Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes.
On Friday nights, NBC brings the new multi-cam comedy "Happy's Place" to audiences, starring the talented Reba McEntire. The show will be followed by the third season of "Lopez vs Lopez," featuring the beloved comedian George Lopez. NBC President of Programming Planning Strategy, Jeff Bader, expressed excitement for the introduction of a family comedy block on Fridays, highlighting the star power of both McEntire and Lopez.
Tuesday nights will see the return of fan-favorite "Night Court" at 8:30 p.m., right after "St. Denis Medical." This will be followed by "The Voice" results show at 9 p.m. and the second season of "The Irrational" at 10 p.m.
NBC's successful "One Chicago" block, featuring "Chicago Med," "Chicago Fire," and "Chicago P.D.," remains intact on Wednesday nights. Thursdays will continue to showcase back-to-back episodes of "Law & Order" and "Law & Order: SVU." However, a change is in store as the second season of "Found" takes over the 10 p.m. timeslot previously held by "Law & Order: Organized Crime," which will be moving to Peacock for its fifth season.
Bader explained the decision behind this change, stating that "Organized Crime" has been a successful show with significant viewership on streaming platforms. This shift will open up one of the most highly sought-after time periods on television, as "SVU" remains one of the highest rated dramas currently airing.
While NBC awaits decisions on two remaining pilots, "Grosse Pointe Garden Society" and "Suits: LA," the network remains committed to offering a rich streaming experience. All new series will be available on-demand through Peacock, alongside NBC's existing lineup.
Looking ahead to midseason, NBC plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of "Saturday Night Live" with a weekend-long event, culminating in a live primetime special. Additionally, the captivating 10-part natural history series "The Americas" will premiere in February, exploring the diverse wildlife and environments of North and South America.
NBC will also introduce new shows such as "The Hunting Party," starring "Manifest" alum Melissa Roxburgh, and the unscripted competition series "Destination X" during the midseason. The popular "Deal or No Deal Island" will also make its return.
Furthermore, NBC has slated a variety of specials for the fall and holiday seasons. "The People's Choice Country Awards," "Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked," and "Little Big Town's Christmas at the Opry" are just a few of the anticipated shows that will entertain viewers during the festive period.
NBC's fall lineup promises an exciting mix of new shows, returning favorites, and captivating specials, offering viewers a diverse range of entertainment options. With the addition of streaming availability on Peacock, audiences can enjoy their favorite NBC content whenever and wherever they please.
