In a surprising move, NBA veteran Patrick Beverley has decided to leave the league and sign a contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv BC in Israel. The decision comes after Beverley failed to secure a new deal during NBA free agency.

According to a tweet from the @PatBevPod account, which Beverley himself confirmed, the Israeli team offered him everything he asked for, making it impossible for him to refuse. However, the terms of the contract have not been disclosed by Beverley, leaving fans curious about the details.

It is worth noting that the 12-year NBA veteran had been considering a minimum offer from an NBA team, which would have amounted to $3.3 million - similar to his previous salary. The allure of a potentially lucrative deal in Israel, possibly spanning multiple years, was likely a significant factor in his decision.

Beverley's last season was split between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks, with the latter acquiring him in a trade. Throughout the season, he averaged six points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, showcasing his defensive prowess with a 36% shooting accuracy on 3-pointers.

However, Beverley's decision to join Hapoel Tel Aviv comes with some consequences. The NBA veteran will face a four-game suspension at the start of the 2024-25 season. This punishment stems from an incident during Game 6 of the first-round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers when Beverley threw a basketball at fans sitting courtside at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Bucks ultimately lost the game 120-98 and were eliminated from the playoffs.

Further complicating matters, Beverley's suspension is also tied to his refusal to answer questions from ESPN reporter Malinda Adams, who had not subscribed to his podcast. Such behavior raised eyebrows and added fuel to the controversy surrounding the incident.

Beverley's professional basketball journey has seen him play overseas before making his mark in the NBA. His career began in Ukraine and Greece, followed by two seasons in Russia. In 2012, he signed with the Houston Rockets, kickstarting his NBA tenure. Beverley has since played for several teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, and Chicago Bulls.

If this indeed marks the end of Beverley's NBA career, he will have completed a total of 666 regular-season games, starting in 518 of them. Throughout his NBA journey, Beverley maintained solid averages of 8.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, along with a respectable 37% shooting percentage from beyond the arc.

It remains to be seen how Beverley's move to Israel will fare, but it signifies a new chapter in his basketball career. Supporters will be eagerly anticipating his impact on the court as he takes on new challenges in the international league.
