In an exciting turn of events, the NBA conducted tiebreakers on Monday to determine the order of selection for the highly anticipated 2024 NBA Draft. With 15 teams involved, six ties were broken, shaping the future of several franchises.

One of the closely contested tiebreakers was between the Charlotte Hornets and the Portland Trailblazers. Both teams finished the season with identical records of 21-61, leading to an intense battle to determine their draft positioning. Ultimately, the Hornets emerged victorious, earning the third spot in the NBA Draft order, while the Trailblazers secured the fourth position.

However, the exact draft order for Portland and Charlotte depends on the results of the NBA Draft lottery on May 12th. Charlotte currently has a 13.3% chance of winning the lottery, while Portland sits at 13.2%. Depending on the lottery outcome, Charlotte is guaranteed a pick no lower than seventh, while Portland's selection could drop as low as eighth.

The Sacramento Kings also found themselves in a tiebreaker scenario against the Golden State Warriors. The Kings emerged triumphant, securing the 13th pick in the draft if they do not move up during the lottery. As for the Golden State Warriors, they obtained the last selection in the lottery, the No. 14 pick. However, the Warriors' pick will be conveyed to the Portland Trail Blazers if they fail to move into the top four during the lottery. Their chances of doing so are slim, standing at just 3.4%.

Other tiebreaker results include the Philadelphia 76ers securing the 16th pick and the Los Angeles Lakers at No. 17. The Lakers' pick could potentially be conveyed to the New Orleans Pelicans at their discretion, with a decision deadline set for June 1st. If the Pelicans choose to defer the pick, they will instead receive the Lakers' 2025 first-round pick.

The Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers also participated in a tiebreaker, with the Magic claiming the No. 18 pick and the Pacers securing the No. 19 pick. However, the Pacers' pick will be conveyed to the Toronto Raptors as part of the Pascal Siakam trade.

Furthermore, the Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, and New Orleans Pelicans earned the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd picks, respectively. Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks outshined the New York Knicks in their tiebreaker, granting the Mavericks the 24th pick. However, this pick will be conveyed to the Knicks as part of the Kristaps Porzingis trade in 2019.

Lastly, the Denver Nuggets successfully broke the tie with the Oklahoma City Thunder, securing the No. 28 pick in the draft. The Thunder, on the other hand, will choose at No. 29. This particular Oklahoma City pick will eventually be conveyed to the Utah Jazz as part of a series of trades.

The results of these tiebreakers have set the stage for an eventful 2024 NBA Draft, scheduled to take place on June 26th and 27th. Fans and teams alike eagerly await the lottery outcome to determine the final draft order, while players and prospects eagerly anticipate the opportunity to shape their basketball journey in the NBA.
