The NBA has announced an ongoing investigation into possible violations of the league's betting policy by Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that if found guilty, Porter could face severe consequences, including banishment from the league.

According to reports, the league is looking into prop bets placed on two Raptors games that took place on January 26 and March 20. Bettors wagered on various props involving Porter's points, rebounds, assists, and made three-pointers.

In the January 26 game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Porter played only four minutes due to an aggravated eye injury sustained a few days earlier. Interestingly, all the under wagers on his props were successful. The following day, DraftKings Sportsbook revealed that Porter's under 0.5 three-pointers prop had resulted in the biggest payout for any NBA player that day.

Similarly, on March 20 against the Sacramento Kings, Porter checked out after just three minutes due to an illness and did not return to the game. Once again, DraftKings Sportsbook reported that Porter's prop bets had been the most profitable of the day.

The NBA launched its investigation into the betting irregularities surrounding Porter in late March. The 24-year-old, who is the younger brother of Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., has appeared in 26 games this season, averaging 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 13.8 minutes per game. His last game was on March 22.

Porter is currently on a two-way contract with the Raptors, earning $455,000 this year. The league's investigation will determine the extent of his involvement and potential repercussions for his actions.

As the investigation continues, the NBA remains committed to enforcing strict regulations regarding gambling and betting on its games. The league recognizes the gravity of player involvement in such activities and is prepared to impose severe consequences if warranted.

It is crucial for the integrity of the sport that players adhere to the league's policies and maintain the highest standards of fair play. The results of the investigation will undoubtedly have a significant impact on Porter's future in the NBA.
