In a series of alarming incidents, multiple schools across North Carolina received calls from anonymous individuals claiming that there were active shooters on their premises. The disturbing reports were revealed through documents released by the North Carolina Information Sharing and Analysis Center (NC ISAAC) and investigated by law enforcement.

According to the released bulletin, each of the reported calls was thoroughly investigated and subsequently determined to be April Fools' Day pranks. In each instance, the callers claimed to be hiding from a shooter within their respective schools, but law enforcement found no evidence to support these claims.

The bulletin further stated that it is likely these calls were made as part of a larger April Fools' Day prank, indicating the possibility of more such incidents occurring throughout the day. Authorities are on high alert and working diligently to identify the individuals responsible for these distressing hoaxes.

One specific incident occurred earlier today at Apex High School, which prompted a temporary lockdown lasting approximately 15 minutes. School Resource Officers swiftly responded to the call and thoroughly searched the school premises to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Additional instances of prank calls were reported at other schools, including Kings Mountain High School, East Lincoln High School, Crest High School, Freedom High School, and South Caldwell High School. It is noteworthy that some of these schools were closed for spring break at the time of the reports, raising concerns about the malicious intent behind these pranks.

Law enforcement agencies across North Carolina are coordinating efforts to trace the origins of these calls and apprehend those responsible. Parents, students, and school officials are urged to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and cooperate with authorities to ensure the safety of all school communities.

As the investigation continues, it is imperative for individuals to recognize the potential consequences of such pranks, which can not only cause unnecessary panic but also divert valuable resources from genuine emergencies. The authorities are taking these incidents seriously and are committed to holding the perpetrators accountable for their actions.

April Fools' Day is a time for harmless fun and jokes, but it's crucial to distinguish between lighthearted pranks and actions that endanger public safety.
