A multi-vehicle crash occurred on Monday in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, involving a CTA bus and at least six other vehicles. Video footage captured by Chopper 7 showed the extent of the incident, which took place at the intersection of 35th Street and Halsted Street.

According to the CTA, the bus involved in the crash was the northbound No. 8 Halsted bus. As a result of the collision, the transportation authority temporarily rerouted 35th Street buses via alternate routes including Morgan, 39th, and Wallace. The street blockage at Halsted and 35th necessitated the rerouting.

In response to the incident, city authorities closed off sections of 35th Street from Lituanica to Emerald Avenue, as well as a portion of Halsted Street between 35th Street and 34th Street. The closures were implemented to facilitate the accident investigation and ensure the safety of both motorists and pedestrians in the area.

The exact cause of the multi-vehicle crash is yet to be determined. It is currently unknown if there were any injuries sustained by the individuals involved in the collision. Investigations are ongoing, and updates regarding the incident will be provided as more information becomes available.

Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and exercise caution in the vicinity of the accident site until the area is fully reopened. The CTA is working diligently to monitor the situation and restore normal bus operations in the affected area.

It is important for commuters to stay informed about potential delays and route changes as authorities work to resolve the aftermath of the crash. Those relying on public transportation should check with the CTA for any updates on bus schedules and alternative routes.

The Chicago authorities and CTA are committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of all commuters, and their prompt response to the incident is reflective of these efforts.
