Motorola has made a major announcement, introducing two new smartphones to their Moto G lineup for 2024. The Moto G 5G and Moto G Power 5G offer impressive features at budget-friendly prices, with one of them even including wireless charging.
Starting with the Moto G 5G, priced at $199, users can expect a 6.6-inch 120Hz display with Gorilla Glass for enhanced durability. Equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor, this device boasts a 50MP primary rear camera, ensuring high-quality photos. To enhance performance, it offers 128GB of storage and utilizes RAM Boost technology, doubling the 4GB RAM capacity to 8GB.
In terms of battery life, the Moto G 5G packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging over USB-C. What makes it stand out is the inclusion of a faux leather finish, which is uncommon at this price point. The Moto G 5G is set to debut on March 22 through T-Mobile and Metro. Additionally, it will be available soon on Google Fi, Cricket, AT&T, Verizon, and other major carriers. Unlocked versions will be offered via Motorola's website, Amazon, and Best Buy starting May 2.
The Moto G Power 5G, priced at $299, is the more intriguing of the duo. It shares similar features with the Moto G 5G, such as the 6.6-inch 120Hz display, 5,000 mAh battery, 128GB of storage, and faux leather design. However, this device also incorporates OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) in its 50MP primary camera, providing even sharper and steadier shots. Notably, it supports wireless charging, a first for the Moto G series. The Moto G Power 5G can be wirelessly charged up to 15W, which is exceedingly rare in smartphones under $600, let alone at its $299 price point.
T-Mobile and Metro will start selling the Moto G Power 5G on March 21, with availability expanding to other carriers in the following weeks. Like its counterpart, the unlocked version will be obtainable from Motorola's website, Amazon, and Best Buy from May 2.
Both devices run on the latest Android 14 operating system, offering a seamless user experience. NFC (Near Field Communication) is also included, a feature that was previously absent from previous Moto G releases.
Motorola's Moto G 5G and Moto G Power 5G provide consumers with affordable options that don't compromise on features. With exceptional cameras, impressive displays, and the debut of wireless charging for the Moto G series, these smartphones are sure to appeal to budget-conscious users seeking premium functionalities.
