Motorola has recently announced its latest flagship collection, the Edge 50 series, which includes three new models tailored to cater to different price ranges. These smartphones are equipped with a range of finishes, ranging from vegan leather to wood-like aesthetics, offering users a variety of options.
The most feature-packed device in the Edge 50 series is the Edge 50 Ultra. It boasts a sizable 6.7-inch pOLED display and is powered by Qualcomm's high-end Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. The device further impresses with a generous 16GB of RAM, delivering exceptional processing power. Notably, the Edge 50 Ultra is equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery and exclusive 125W TurboPower charging, enabling users to charge their phone for a full day's use in just four minutes.
Recognizing the importance of capturing stunning photography, Motorola has focused heavily on enhancing the camera capabilities of the Edge 50 series. The Edge 50 Ultra flaunts an advanced three-camera array, featuring a 50-MP primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50-MP ultrawide camera, and a 50-MP telephoto camera. AI-infused features within the camera app enhance its capabilities, including a photo enhancement engine that fine-tunes images after capture and a long exposure mode for capturing captivating shots of waterfalls and night scenes.
Motorola aims to win back consumers' trust in its camera performance, considering criticism of previous models' capabilities. The company believes that the Edge 50 Ultra's camera system will successfully compete with offerings from rival brands like Samsung and Google.
In addition to offering impressive features, the Edge 50 Ultra and its siblings come in various finishes. Users can choose from options like vegan leather in Forest Grey and Peach Fuzz, as well as a wood-like aesthetic called Nordic Wood. These finishes harken back to the premium feel that Android brands like LG had experimented with in the past.
The Edge 50 series also includes the Edge 50 Pro and Edge 50 Fusion models. The Edge 50 Pro features a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, along with 12GB of RAM, while the Edge 50 Fusion offers a more affordable option with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor and up to 12GB of memory. The rear camera system on the Edge 50 Pro and Fusion models comprise of three and two cameras, respectively, further extending users' photography options. These devices also offer various vegan leather finishes and a polymer version called Moonlight Pearl.
The starting price for the Motorola Edge 50 series is €700. While the company has not yet announced a specific launch date for the U.S., the devices are set to debut first in Europe. Latin America, Asia, and Oceania, including Australia and New Zealand, will follow suit. It remains to be seen whether Motorola will introduce different variations for its U.S. users later this year.
Motorola's latest flagship lineup, the Edge 50 series, brings impressive camera upgrades, AI-infused features, and a range of attractive finishes. With its commitment to delivering premium performance and cutting-edge technology, Motorola aims to secure its position among the top contenders in the smartphone market.
