Formal charges were filed on Monday against the mother of three-year-old Elijah Vue, Katrina Baur, and her co-defendant, Jesse Vang. Baur was charged with neglecting a child under six years old, not resulting in harm, as well as two misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing an officer. Vang, on the other hand, is charged with neglecting a child under six years old.
The criminal complaint stated that Baur left Elijah with Vang for a week in an attempt to teach the boy "to be a man." Vang, who called the police to report Elijah missing, explained that he had been tasked with helping the boy with his behavior during the time he was in his care.
Both Baur and Vang appeared in court on the afternoon of Monday after being arrested and are currently being held in the Manitowoc County Jail. Baur's bond was set at $15,000 cash, while Vang received a $20,000 cash bond.
