**MLB Announces Changes to All-Star Game and Regular Season Uniforms**
Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced significant changes to its uniforms that will be rolled out over the next two seasons. A key highlight is that starting next season, players will return to wearing their primary home and road uniforms during the All-Star Game. This marks a shift back to the tradition that was in place from the 1930s until 2019, allowing players to once again represent their hometown teams during the event.
For the Gatorade Workout Day and the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, athletes selected for the All-Star Game will don special All-Star uniforms. However, those participating in the Home Run Derby will continue to wear their primary home uniforms. Notably, MLB is collaborating with New Era to design the game caps for the All-Star Game.
Additional changes are slated for regular season uniforms, starting next season. These modifications will include pant customization and an increase in the size of lettering on uniforms. The league will also revert to previously used materials following player requests. This decision was finalized after a collaborative effort involving MLB, Nike, Fanatics, and the Major League Baseball Players Association.
The new Nike Vapor Premier jersey, which was introduced in 2024, aimed to enhance mobility and fit. However, criticism regarding the lightweight design and smaller letters prompted a league-wide survey conducted by MLB, Nike, and Fanatics in partnership with the Major League Baseball Players' Association. Based on player feedback, efforts are underway to address these concerns by enlarging the letters on player names, incorporating embroidered sleeve patches, and reinstating full pant customization.
While complete implementation of these changes will not be immediate, the updated road grey uniforms using the 2023 fabric are expected to be ready by Spring Training in 2025. By the start of the 2026 season, all MLB uniforms will transition back to the previous materials used during the 2023 season, ensuring a return to the preferred fabric and design elements desired by the players.
