**Mikey Madison to Star in 'The Masque of the Red Death' Following Oscar Triumph**

Mikey Madison, the recent Oscar winner for her performance in Neon's breakout film 'Anora,' is gearing up for a major role in an upcoming adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Masque of the Red Death.' Madison, known for her discerning approach to choosing roles, has finally selected a project after a whirlwind rise to fame.

Madison's new venture, a reimagining of Poe's eerie tale, is directed by Charlie Polinger and will be distributed globally by A24, with Picturestart handling production. This marks one of Madison's first significant roles since her award-winning turn in 'Anora,' a film that not only dazzled audiences at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024 but also went on to win five Oscars, including Best Picture.

In this latest adaptation, Madison is expected to portray twin sisters in a dramatic plot involving social class struggle, a mad prince, and a devastating plague. One sister finds herself immersed in the noble class's debauchery, while the other, concealed among the lower class, infiltrates the castle leading to a narrative filled with power struggles, opium-induced orgies, and vengeful twists.

Madison steps into the shoes initially intended for Sydney Sweeney, who had to exit the project due to overlapping commitments with her current roles, including the popular series 'Euphoria' and the upcoming 'Gundam' adaptation by Legendary. Despite her busy year, Sweeney's departure opens the door for Madison to bring her own unique flair to the gripping narrative.

The production of 'The Masque of the Red Death' is slated to begin late this year or early next, promising a fresh and intense take on Poe's classic work. As fans eagerly anticipate Madison's next move, her involvement in this project underscores her standing as a talent to watch in the film industry.
