Microsoft is set to upgrade Windows 11 with new generative AI capabilities, aimed at expanding the functionality of its built-in app called Copilot. The update, released today, offers users additional features such as adjusting PC settings, photo editing, and integrating plug-ins for popular apps like OpenTable.

At CES 2024, Microsoft unveiled a dedicated Copilot button for Windows keyboards, emphasizing its commitment to making Copilot a central feature of the operating system moving forward. Users can access Copilot by simply pressing the designated key or using an on-screen shortcut. By typing in commands such as "show battery information," "empty recycle bin," or "launch live captions," individuals can easily navigate their computers and perform specific tasks.

The new Copilot "skills" are poised to not only simplify computer usage for most individuals but also have the potential to transform how we interact with our PCs in the future. For instance, Copilot could guide users through the process of installing software to connect a new printer to their PC, alleviating the frustration associated with this task.

Alongside the expanded functionality of Copilot, Microsoft has introduced the Generative Erase option to the Windows 11 Photos app. This feature allows users to select and quickly remove objects from images, seamlessly eliminating them from the shot.
