### Mick Schumacher to Depart Mercedes After 2024 Season

After two years as the reserve driver for Mercedes, Mick Schumacher is set to leave the team at the end of 2024. Schumacher initially joined the Formula 1 powerhouse at the beginning of the 2023 season, following a two-season spell with Haas. At Mercedes, he has staffed the simulator and offered critical feedback during both test sessions and races.

In addition to his responsibilities at Mercedes, Schumacher has been active in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with Alpine. Looking ahead to 2025, Alpine has already confirmed that he will continue as one of their six drivers for the WEC.

Toto Wolff, the team principal at Mercedes, lauded Schumacher's commitment to his duties as a reserve driver. "Mick's hard work, diligence, and determination in his role as Reserve Driver has been vital for the team over the past two years," said Wolff. He praised the German driver for his seamless integration into the team and his significant contributions both in the simulator and on the track.

Schumacher, often seen alongside Wolff during race weekends, expressed his gratitude for the experiences and growth he has had at Mercedes. "I am grateful to Toto and the entire Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team for the insight I have gained over these two years," stated the 25-year-old. He acknowledged that his time with the team had provided him with valuable engineering knowledge, but he emphasized his desire to return to full-time racing.

"Ultimately, it is racing that you want to do as a driver, it is racing that gives you that feeling you love," said Schumacher, reflecting on his drive to get back to competitive racing.

Despite the intrigue surrounding Schumacher's next move, it appears that the only unconfirmed seat for the 2025 Formula 1 season belongs to Red Bull, likely to be filled by Liam Lawson. Mattia Binotto, the Sauber team boss, disclosed that Schumacher had been considered for a seat alongside Nico Hulkenberg but they opted to go with rookie Gabriel Bortoleto.

Regardless of his next steps, Schumacher's stint with Mercedes will be remembered for his dedication and significant contributions.
