NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has issued forecasts detailing the potential for severe weather in Michigan starting Tuesday evening. The storm system is expected to take a more April-like track, bringing warm conditions to the state. Residents are advised to prepare for severe thunderstorms capable of producing quick wind gusts over 58 mph, large hail, and possibly even tornadoes.

The tornado forecast for late Tuesday indicates that isolated tornadoes are possible, with the highest chance along the southern Michigan border counties. There is a smaller chance of isolated tornadoes extending north through Kent County, Genesee County, and into southern Saginaw County.

The main threat will be from quick bursts of damaging wind gusts, with a 15 percent chance of these gusts occurring across the southern third of Lower Michigan on Tuesday evening. Additionally, there is a chance of large hail, particularly in the far southern counties where two-inch hail or larger may be possible.

Despite the risks, there is hope that the timing of the storms may work in favor of avoiding severe weather, as storms typically weaken at night. However, given the dynamics of the larger storm system, caution is advised. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about any changes in timing and location of the severe weather potential tomorrow.

Michigan residents are urged to monitor updates from NOAA and be prepared to take appropriate precautions as the severe weather threats loom on Tuesday evening and into Tuesday night.
