### Michigan Defeats Minnesota to Retain the Little Brown Jug

In a dramatic continuation of Michigan's recent dominance over Minnesota, the Michigan Wolverines football team clinched a tight 27-24 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. This comes on the heels of the Detroit Tigers erasing a 10-game deficit against the Minnesota Twins to clinch a postseason spot, further solidifying Michigan's upper hand in athletic contests against Minnesota.

From the outset, Michigan established its dominance with a formidable rushing offense. The Wolverines initiated the scoring with a 27-yard touchdown rush by Mullings, culminating a seven-play, 79-yard drive. Throughout the game, Mullings was the backbone of Michigan's offense, contributing 111 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.

Special teams and defense also played pivotal roles in Michigan's win. Zeke Berry’s strip and return set up a short field for another Mullings score, while Christian Boivin's blocked punt led to an immediate touchdown pass to Tyler Morris. The defense consistently pressured Minnesota quarterback Max Brosmer, limiting him to 258 passing yards and forcing five punts.

Despite Michigan's apparent control, the game tightened up in the third quarter. An interception thrown by Alex Orji reignited Minnesota’s chances, leading to a 12-play, 72-yard touchdown drive. Minnesota kept pressing, eventually narrowing the gap to three points with just 1:40 remaining. However, a crucial offsides penalty on an onside kick attempt quashed their comeback hopes.

Michigan's balanced strategy of a strong running game, timely defensive stands, and efficient special teams ultimately sealed their victory. In contrast to last week's game, Orji showed progress, completing 10 of 18 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown, even though he threw a costly interception.

Throughout the game, Michigan’s starting field position was an advantage, averaging their own 48-yard line in the first half compared to Minnesota's 23. This favorable field position helped Michigan build an 18-point halftime lead despite being outgained in total yardage.

Ultimately, Michigan's ability to balance its offensive production, capitalize on key defensive plays, and control the clock led to their hard-fought victory, allowing them to retain the Little Brown Jug and extend their recent streak of successes against Minnesota teams.
