Miami Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson is facing uncertainty in his availability for the upcoming Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans due to a rib injury sustained during Sunday's match against the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the injury, describing it as "pretty painful" as Thompson is now considered day-to-day. The next 48 hours will be crucial in determining whether Thompson will be fit to play on Monday night.
During the game against the Seahawks, Thompson struggled against their strong defense before exiting the field. He managed to complete 13 of 19 passes for 107 yards but failed to lead the Dolphins on a substantial drive. Should Thompson be sidelined, either Tim Boyle or recently acquired Tyler Huntley will be in contention to start. Boyle stepped in for Thompson and completed 7 of 13 passes for 79 yards in relief. If either Boyle or Huntley takes the field on Monday, it will mark the Dolphins' third starting quarterback in just four games this season.
The Dolphins have faced quarterback challenges this season with Tua Tagovailoa currently on injured reserve after sustaining a concussion in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. Tagovailoa is expected to miss at least three more games, with McDaniel mentioning that he will undergo further evaluation with neurologists this week to assess his progress. With multiple quarterback options on the table, the Dolphins are navigating through uncertainties as they prepare to face the Titans in their upcoming game.
