In a surprising turn of events, the Memphis Tigers have made their way into the College Football Playoff (CFP) picture after a solid 20-12 victory over Florida State. The Tigers' impressive performance on the road has propelled them into the Group of Five representative slot in the playoff projections, previously held by Boise State.

The win over the Seminoles has cemented Memphis' place in the playoff conversation, while Florida State finds themselves out of the bowl projections entirely. With a winless record of 0-3, the Seminoles' hopes for a postseason appearance are rapidly diminishing. The road ahead looks increasingly tough for the 'Noles, with tough matches against Clemson, Miami, and Notre Dame still awaiting them.

The only other change in the CFP projection sees Oregon and Penn State swapping places. Oregon showcased their true potential in an incredible 49-14 victory over Oregon State, gaining them the projected 7th seed. Meanwhile, Penn State has slipped to 9th place in the playoff outlook.

Notre Dame, albeit securing a resounding 66-7 win over Purdue, has failed to make its way back into the CFP projections. The Fighting Irish's strength of schedule and an unfortunate loss to Northern Illinois continue to overshadow their dominant performances. With only two ranked opponents remaining on their schedule, Notre Dame's bid for a playoff spot appears uncertain.

As the college football season progresses, the landscape of the playoff projections is continuously shifting. The Memphis Tigers' rise as the Group of Five representative adds excitement to the CFP race, while traditional powerhouses like Florida State and Notre Dame face uphill battles to regain their playoff ambitions.
