In a turn of events, meme stocks such as GameStop (GME) and AMC (AMC) are witnessing a decline in their prices as "Roaring Kitty" makes a comeback. Yahoo Finance's Jared Blikre analyzed the recent movement in these stocks, comparing it to the meme stock craze of three years ago.

GameStop has seen a staggering 25% decrease in its stock price, while AMC has also suffered a 22% drop since the return of "Roaring Kitty." Blikre points out a significant difference in today's meme stocks compared to 2021 when retail participation was much higher. He suggests that the reprisals and magnitude of the price swings might be more subdued this time around.

Examining the performance of various meme stocks, Blikre notes that many big-name companies are no longer actively participating in the meme trade. Instead, his focus remains on GameStop, AMC, and other original meme stock members. These stocks can be found at the bottom of the list, indicating their recent losses.

Highlighting the contrasting market conditions, Blikre emphasizes the shift from 2021 when Wall Street was caught off guard by the retail-driven meme stock frenzy. However, he observes that the financial industry quickly adapted to the situation, resulting in the current limited scope of the meme stock phenomenon.

Looking at the two-day total, Blikre reveals that GameStop has experienced a significant gain of over 105%, while AMC saw an 83% increase. However, he cautions that these gains have proven fleeting, mirroring the volatility seen during the original meme stock movement.

The article also mentions the presence of numerous volatility halts in the trading activity, disrupting the flow of the market. Blikre hints at the repetition of 2021's events, but expresses doubts about a similar magnitude of reprisals this time.

As the meme stocks experience these fluctuations, market participants eagerly await further developments and analyze the potential long-term effects of "Roaring Kitty's" return.
