Meghan Markle Faces New Allegations of Staff Mistreatment as Sussexes Struggle with High Turnover

In recent developments, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has found herself at the center of fresh allegations of staff tensions. Media reports have described her as "relentless" and claimed that she "marches around like a dictator in high heels, fuming and barking orders." These allegations have led to her earning the nickname "Duchess Difficult" among staff members.
According to sources cited by the Hollywood Reporter, Meghan's behavior has reportedly reduced grown men to tears. Such allegations have raised questions about the couple's ability to retain staff, as the Sussex camp experiences a high turnover rate.
In the past, the couple has witnessed several key departures. Josh Kettler, their chief of staff, resigned after just three months in August 2022. Toya Holness, their global press secretary, also left their team. Another notable departure includes Christine Weil Schirmer, their former head of PR, who left in 2021. Additionally, Ben Browning, responsible for securing Meghan and Harry's Netflix deal, and Fara Taylor, the marketing chief, have also stepped down. Catherine St-Laurent, who led their Archewell charity for a year, and Mandana Dayani, Archewell's COO, have left as well.
These recent claims parallel earlier accusations made against Meghan during her time as a working royal. A previous inquiry was launched into her alleged mistreatment of two personal assistants. Reports described a stressful environment where staff members were left in tears and "traumatized," leading to comparisons with post-traumatic stress. Meghan's legal team has previously labeled these claims as a "calculated smear campaign."
The Sussexes, as of yet, have not commented on these latest staff allegations. Since their move to California in 2020, the couple has faced challenges in retaining their employees. At least 18 employees have left since their marriage in 2018, with over nine departures occurring since their relocation to the United States.
These newest allegations of staff mistreatment continue to raise concerns about work conditions within the Sussex camp. As public attention intensifies, both supporters and critics await further comment from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry regarding these claims and the ongoing challenges in employee retention.
