In a significant escalation of hostilities, Ukraine's capital city Kyiv and the western region of Lviv were subjected to a "massive" air attack by the Russian forces early Sunday. Adding to the tension, Poland reported that one of the Russian missiles breached its airspace during the attack.

The air strikes were part of a series of deadly aerial assaults between Russia and Ukraine, with Sunday's bombardment coming just a day after the Russian military announced the capture of the Ukrainian village of Ivanivske. These attacks have further exacerbated the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, urgently warned residents to stay in shelters as explosions rocked the capital. Meanwhile, the governor of Lviv, Maksym Kozytskyi, confirmed that the Stryi district south of Lviv was also targeted, situated close to the Polish border. Although some buildings sustained minor damage, there were fortunately no reported casualties.

Additionally, an overnight drone attack caused temporary localized power cuts in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region. Ukraine's air force revealed that Russia had launched a barrage of 29 cruise missiles and 28 drones, with Ukrainian forces successfully intercepting 18 missiles and 25 drones.
