Actor Mark Wahlberg, known for his intense workout regimen, has decided against undergoing surgery to fix his injured knee after tearing his meniscus during the first day of filming for "Arthur the King." Instead, Wahlberg has opted to focus on corrective exercises to heal his knee, stating that surgery is "not his thing."
Despite adhering to a rigorous exercise routine that often has him waking up at 4 a.m., Wahlberg sustained the knee injury while running along a hill during filming. The actor explained, "I kind of snapped my knee back, and it tore." However, he continues to film for the movie, which hit theaters on March 15.
While doctors strongly recommended surgery, Wahlberg made the decision to tough it out and continue filming. The doctor warned that if his knee were to lock in a bent and flexed position, he would be unable to move it until surgery was performed. However, Wahlberg is determined to complete the project.
Speaking about his role in "Arthur the King," Wahlberg described it as the "most physically demanding role" he has ever undertaken. He plays the character of Mikael Lindnord and also serves as the movie's producer. Despite the injury, he stated, "I tore my meniscus on the first day, and I'm producing the movie, so I couldn't shut the production down. I had to fight through."
The decision to take on "Arthur the King" was motivated by Wahlberg's affinity for true stories. He explained, "I always gravitate towards true stories. [It's a] remarkable story, and I cannot wait for people to see it. There won't be a dry eye in the house, that's for sure." The film revolves around an adventure racer who adopts a stray dog named Arthur to join him in an epic endurance race.
In addition to Wahlberg's starring role, "Arthur the King" boasts a star-studded cast, including Simu Liu, Michael Landes, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Paul Guilfoyle.
Although Wahlberg's decision to forgo surgery may raise eyebrows, it is a testament to his dedication and determination to complete the film despite the challenges posed by his injury.
