Man Arrested Following Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting Claims Innocence, Faces Charges

A man identified as Jose Castillo, 36, was arrested in the aftermath of the deadly shooting incident that took place during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade. Castillo allegedly picked up a Glock 22 from the ground at Union Station, where the celebration was being held. Witnesses stated that the gun was dropped by one of the shooting suspects during the commotion.
Upon picking up the firearm, Castillo was ordered by the police to the ground and subsequently arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon. Reports mentioned that he appeared intoxicated, with slurred speech and bloodshot eyes at the time of the incident. Castillo, a convicted felon, maintained that he believed the gun belonged to an officer and intended to turn it over to the authorities.
Despite not being connected to the mass shooting, Castillo faces charges and remains in custody. A gunshot residue test was conducted on Castillo's hands, with results undisclosed by the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office. Castillo, who has a prior felony conviction for marijuana possession in Kansas, insisted that he was merely trying to help and was not involved in the altercation that led to the gunfire.
