In a devastating blow to the Los Angeles Sparks, rookie forward Cameron Brink has suffered a torn ACL in her left knee, as announced by the team on Wednesday. The injury occurred during the first quarter of the Sparks' 79-70 loss to the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night.

Brink, who played for less than four minutes before getting hurt, had to be assisted off the court in visible pain. Moving towards the locker room, the No. 2 draft pick was eventually carried off her feet by Sparks personnel due to the extent of her injury.

The 22-year-old rookie has been an essential presence for the Sparks this season, averaging 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. Notably, she is tied with A'ja Wilson for the second-most blocks in the WNBA.

Brink's absence will undoubtedly have an impact on the Los Angeles team, currently holding a 4-11 record. The rookie's contributions both offensively and defensively have been influential, showcasing her skill and potential in the league.

Additionally, Brink's injury will also affect her participation in the upcoming Paris Olympics, where she was set to compete as part of the U.S. 3x3 team. A replacement will be named for Brink, as she focuses on her recovery and rehabilitation.

The Sparks organization, fans, and fellow teammates are all sending their best wishes to Brink for a speedy recovery. The team will now have to regroup and adjust their strategies on the court as they continue to navigate through the season without their talented rookie forward.
