In the midst of preparing for the Paris games with Team USA, LeBron James has been closely watching his son, Bronny, play in the NBA summer league. Despite being thousands of miles away overseas, the Los Angeles Lakers star has been making time to offer advice to his son during his lackluster performances.
During a postgame interview after the Lakers' narrow 87-86 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, Bronny revealed the words of wisdom bestowed upon him by his father. "Stay aggressive," James emphasized. He encouraged his son to maintain a strong offensive mindset, even when his shots weren't falling.
Bronny's most impressive performance thus far came in the game against the Hawks, where he scored 12 points and made his first professional career three-pointers by going 2-of-5 from beyond the arc. However, it's important to note that this standout performance cannot erase his overall underwhelming summer league showing.
Throughout the summer league, Bronny, a second-round draft pick, has averaged just 4.3 points per game. Additionally, he endured a rough stretch where he missed all 15 of his three-point attempts in the first four games. Despite facing criticism, Bronny remains focused on the future and eagerly anticipates playing alongside his father in the upcoming season.
"I feel like playing together, going to work together every day is just gonna build the relationship we already have, build that connection even stronger," Bronny expressed his excitement. "I'm excited to get to work with my dad."
The Lakers have two more summer league games remaining in Las Vegas, where they will face the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls. It will provide Bronny another opportunity to further develop his skills and showcase his growth on the court. Under the watchful eye and guidance of his father, Bronny is determined to make his mark in the NBA.
