A leaked lineup for last week's PlayStation State of Play has surfaced, adding to concerns over the level of access Google employees have to videos before they are officially released. This issue has been highlighted in recent reports by Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming and 404 Media.

According to Henderson, an incident occurred in 2022 when popular YouTuber KSI attempted to give away over $10,000 worth of Amazon gift cards. However, KSI discovered that all the gift card codes had already been redeemed before the video was even posted. This discovery prompted an internal investigation at YouTube. A similar investigation was reportedly initiated when the trailer for the highly anticipated game, GTA VI, leaked ahead of its official release.

These incidents shed light on an ongoing problem within Google. 404 Media recently published reports based on internal database records which revealed that a Google contractor was responsible for leaking Nintendo's Yoshi's Crafted World in 2017, providing an early look at the game. The leak occurred when a user on Reddit shared an image of the trailer featuring an "admin.youtube.com" URL in the address bar, indicating that an employee had accessed the private version of the video.

Google has confirmed that an employee accessed the leaked information, stating that a former temporary vendor contractor downloaded the video using an admin account and shared the unreleased Nintendo feature with a friend. The company described the incident as "non-intentional" in an internal database entry viewed by 404 Media.

In response to the reports, Google spokesperson Matt Bryant assured that every flag reported by 404 Media had been reviewed and resolved at the time. However, the company did not provide detailed information regarding the measures taken to prevent unauthorized access and leaks of content.

The recurrence of leaks related to video game releases and giveaways is raising concerns among the gaming community. Many are calling for more stringent safeguards and transparency from Google to protect creators' content and ensure fair and timely releases.

As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen whether Google will implement stricter measures to prevent early access and leaking of videos by its employees. The gaming community eagerly awaits a resolution to these ongoing issues, hoping for a more secure and protected environment for creators and their audiences.
