### Extended Snow Warnings and New Storm Watch as Heavy Snow Continues in Northeast Ohio
The National Weather Service (NWS) has lengthened its Lake Effect Snow Warning in certain Northeast Ohio areas and issued a new Winter Storm Watch for two counties starting on Sunday. Initially scheduled from midnight Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, the Lake Effect Snow Warning has been extended to 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3. This affects Ashtabula and Lake counties in Ohio, as well as Erie County in Pennsylvania.
In addition, a new Winter Storm Watch is set for Cuyahoga and Geauga Counties from noon Sunday through 7 p.m. Monday. Geauga County will remain under the Lake Effect Snow Warning until 10 a.m. Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch also includes Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
The NWS forecasts that over Saturday, an additional 8-20 inches of snow could blanket the Interstate 90 corridor, particularly impacting eastern Lake and northern Ashtabula counties. Due to these hazardous conditions, the 3News Weather Team strongly advises against traveling on I-90 and Highway 20 in the primary snowbelt area.
Saturday night's forecast from the 3News Weather Team suggests a brief reprieve from the snowfall as winds are expected to move the heaviest snow north over open waters. However, lake-effect snow is predicted to return on Sunday, potentially bringing 6-15 inches of new snow across Northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania from Sunday evening into Monday morning.
The 3News Weather Team also notes that a wind shift on Sunday could result in several inches of snow accumulating in the Cleveland metro area by Monday morning.
