**Kia Unveils Revamped Electric Vehicles at LA Auto Show**

Kia made a significant splash at the Los Angeles Auto Show with the introduction of two updated electric vehicles, underscoring its strong position in the electric vehicle (EV) market. The South Korean automaker's latest offerings include the high-performance 2025 Kia EV9 GT and a refreshed 2025 Kia EV6 crossover.

The 2025 Kia EV9 GT represents a potent upgrade of the brand’s three-row SUV. Boasting over 500 horsepower and a zero-to-60mph acceleration time of just 4.3 seconds, this performance version stands as Kia’s most powerful three-row SUV to date. Unlike the previous GT Line model, the new GT trim is finely tuned for performance, featuring electronically controlled suspension that adjusts according to the drive mode. A bright green GT button on the steering wheel activates the mode, setting shock damping to its stiffest setting.

Another innovative feature of the EV9 GT is its virtual gear shifting system, which mimics the operation of a traditional automatic transmission with simulated engine noises and paddle shifters for manual control. The “Active Sound Design (e-ASD)” enhances this experience by replicating gear shift sounds as the vehicle accelerates.

Sales of the original EV9 in the U.S. have been robust since its launch last December, with approximately 18,000 units sold. However, Kia has announced a production slowdown in response to evolving market conditions.

The refreshed EV9 GT comes with several design enhancements, including high-performance 285/45R-21 Continental tires wrapped around exclusive 21-inch alloy wheels and neon green brake calipers. Additionally, there are GT-exclusive lighting accents and digital graphics in the infotainment system.

A significant upgrade for the 2025 EV9 GT is the inclusion of a native Tesla/ North American Charging System (NACS) port, granting access to 15,000 Supercharger stations without an adapter. This feature, also being adopted by Hyundai, indicates a step forward for South Korean automakers in embracing the new charging standard.

Kia also announced updates to its 2025 EV6 crossover. The new model will include the native NACS port, a larger battery for increased capacity and range, and a repositioned charging port to better align with Tesla Superchargers. The base model now features a 63kWh battery, offering a range of 232 miles, with an optional 84kWh pack pushing the estimated range to 319 miles in the rear-wheel-drive configuration.

The 2025 EV6 will be produced at Hyundai and Kia's facility in Georgia, potentially qualifying for the $7,500 tax credit dependent on ongoing legislative developments. Meanwhile, the EV9 GT will continue to be manufactured in South Korea, with an anticipated late 2025 arrival. Pricing details for both models will be disclosed closer to their production dates.
