In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Kevin Spacey opened up about his experience filming his latest movie, "Peter Five Eight," following his acquittal of sexual assault charges. The 64-year-old actor, who broke down in tears during a recent television interview, expressed his concerns about ensuring the well-being of his fellow cast and crew members on set.

Although Spacey acknowledged feeling honored to be working again, he did not view his role in the risqué thriller as a big "comeback." In the film, Spacey plays the character of Peter, a hitman tasked with murdering a real estate agent named Sam. Despite the controversies surrounding him in recent years, Spacey shared that he had no qualms about portraying a "bad guy" and believed in not prejudging the characters he plays.

"I try to not judge the characters I play, and it was important for me to not let outside noises factor into what I might be able to bring to a character," Spacey explained. He emphasized his belief that playing different roles allows for empathetic experiences and stated that he did not consider "Peter Five Eight" or any future projects as a "comeback" in his career.

Reflecting on his return to the camera after being dropped from the hit Netflix series "House of Cards" in 2017, Spacey revealed that he was more focused on ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved. He mentioned that being self-conscious about his role in treating others well and facilitating their best performance was a priority for him.

During the interview, Spacey also addressed his decision to approach his character in "Peter Five Eight" as a new experience, separate from his previous roles. He commended the welcoming and enjoyable work environment on set and expressed gratitude for the support he received from industry figures such as Sharon Stone, Liam Neeson, Stephen Fry, F. Murray Abraham, and Sir Trevor Nunn.

When asked about cancel culture and its impact on the court of public opinion, Spacey expressed his concern about the confusion between feelings and facts, as well as opinions and the law. He emphasized the importance of respecting the actual courts to prevent the cancellation of the entire system.

Looking towards the future, Spacey shared his perspective as an actor and stated that the work chooses him, rather than the other way around. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue working and expressed a desire to find inspiring collaborations and challenging material.

"Peter Five Eight," released in March 2024, is currently available for streaming on platforms such as Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.

In sharing his experiences and reflections, Kevin Spacey sheds light on his personal journey as he navigates his acting career post-acquittal, determined to make a positive impact on those around him.
