In a heartwarming message shared on social media, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has congratulated Dwayne Fields on his appointment as the new Chief Scout of the United Kingdom. This rare statement comes months after Kate announced that she was undergoing cancer treatment. The announcement was made through a post on her and her husband Prince William's Instagram Stories on September 6.
Expressing her delight, Kate's post read, "Delighted to welcome @dwaynefields as the new UK Chief Scout. The Scouts is such an incredible organization, teaching #SkillsForLife and making a huge difference to young people across the country." She further added, "Looking forward to working with you! C."
Dwayne Fields, a renowned TV presenter and explorer, made history in 2010 by becoming the first Black Briton to reach the North Pole. He succeeded Bear Grylls as the UK's Chief Scout on September 5. In a video shared on his and the organization's Instagram, Dwayne expressed his excitement about his new role. He mentioned his early introduction to Scouts at the age of 7 and his passion for imparting important life skills to communities across the country.
Bear Grylls, the former Chief Scout, also expressed his support and hailed Dwayne as an incredible successor. "Dwayne will be incredible, I am sure, and Scouts will continue to thrive and soar... it's been the honor of my life," commented Grylls on Kate Middleton's Instagram post.
Kate's uplifting message to Dwayne Fields comes as she slowly resumes her public life following her abdominal surgery in January and subsequent cancer treatment announcement in March. Since then, she has largely stayed out of the spotlight. However, in a show of support, Kate, along with Prince William, shared an encouraging message for the British 2024 Paralympics team ahead of the Opening Ceremony in Paris.
As Kate continues her cancer treatment, she recently shared an update on her chemotherapy progress. In an Instagram post on June 14, she mentioned that she is "making good progress" but experiences both good and bad days. Kate emphasized the importance of resting on challenging days, while also being grateful for the opportunity to engage in school life, pursue activities that energize her, and undertake some work from home.
Throughout this year, the royal family has experienced various health challenges and significant milestones. From Princess Anne's hospitalization and subsequent release, to the Duchess of York's diagnosis of a second type of cancer, the year has been filled with both ups and downs. Despite these challenges, the royal family has shown resilience and continued to carry out their public duties.
With Kate Middleton's heartfelt message to Dwayne Fields, it is evident that her dedication to supporting meaningful causes remains steadfast, even during her own personal health journey. As the Princess of Wales and wife of Prince William, Kate continues to inspire and uplift those around her, making a positive impact on the lives of young people across the United Kingdom.
