In Super Bowl LVIII, only one player, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton, was penalized, being ordered to pay $8,238 for a horse-collar tackle on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. The game saw a total of six penalties, with Bolton's unnecessary roughness penalty coming in the second quarter and costing the Chiefs 15 yards. Despite the fine, none of the other in-game penalties resulted in post-game fines, as announced by the NFL.

The fines collected by the league from safety-related violations are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation and the NFL Foundation. Bolton played a crucial role in the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory, recording 13 tackles in the game, including a tackle for loss and two quarterback hits. Despite missing nine games during the 2023 regular season due to surgery, Bolton showcased his skills as one of the Chiefs' top tacklers, finishing the 2022 season with a career-high 180 tackles.
