### Kamala Harris Campaigns in Las Vegas as Key Swing State Nevada Heats Up
Vice President Kamala Harris will rally supporters in Las Vegas on Sunday night. Both she and Republican contender Donald Trump are intensifying efforts in the crucial swing state of Nevada as the November 5 Election Day approaches. Harris's rally forms part of her broader West Coast campaign swing, which started with her first visit to the U.S.-Mexico border as part of the Democratic presidential ticket with President Joe Biden.
On Friday, Harris toured the imposing border wall in Douglas, Arizona, alongside federal authorities. She continued her travels with a fundraiser in San Francisco on Saturday and an event in Los Angeles on Sunday before heading to Nevada. Highlighting the tight race, Harris told enthusiastic donors, "This is a margin-of-error race," and emphasized her underdog mindset. She urged supporters to mobilize voters, even utilizing Californian volunteers to make calls from home.
Former Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake endorsed Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, on Sunday, praising their integrity and commitment to the country. Flake, a consistent Trump critic, joins other notable Republicans like Dick and Liz Cheney in supporting the Democratic ticket. Meanwhile, Maryland Senate candidate Larry Hogan stated Trump wouldn’t receive his vote, although he hasn't yet committed to Harris.
Nevada's pandemic-era law ensures all voters receive mail-in ballots unless they opt out, with ballots potentially arriving weeks before Election Day. Harris plans another visit to Las Vegas on October 10 for a town hall with Hispanic voters, underscoring Nevada's strategic significance with its six Electoral College votes. Both Harris and Trump have campaigned actively in the state, including holding events at the Expo World Market Center.
In a previous rally at this venue, Trump criticized Harris, suggesting she would allow unrestricted immigration. He has also proposed eliminating federal taxes on tips for service industry workers, a promise Harris echoed during her own Las Vegas rally in August. Ted Pappageorge of Nevada’s Culinary Union endorsed Harris, noting her commitment to ending 'sub-minimum wage' practices in addition to her tax pledges.
Harris has no public events scheduled for Tuesday when her running mate Tim Walz debates Republican JD Vance. However, Harris and Walz will embark on a bus tour across central Pennsylvania on Wednesday, focusing on plans to boost U.S. manufacturing through tax credits and overhauling federal permitting to enhance domestic construction.
