**Joel Embiid Unlikely to Play Back-to-Back Games in Future Seasons**
Philadelphia 76ers' star center Joel Embiid has faced consistent challenges with injuries throughout his career, influencing his decision about future game participation. Embiid has indicated that it is improbable he will participate in both ends of back-to-back games moving forward.
"If I had to guess, I would probably never play back-to-backs the rest of my career," Embiid shared with ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. This sentiment is echoed by Philadelphia's president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey, who emphasized the need for a cautious approach. "We're going to be smart about it," Morey stated, adding that it is likely both Embiid and Paul Reed will minimize or avoid playing back-to-back games altogether.
In the 2022-23 NBA season, Embiid claimed his first MVP Award, demonstrating remarkable performance despite his recurring injuries. However, the following season saw him struggling significantly with a knee injury, causing him to miss 43 regular-season games. When he was on the court, Embiid was a dominant presence, boasting impressive averages of 34.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game.
Despite playing fewer games, Embiid's statistics exceeded his MVP-winning season's performances, where he averaged 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.0 steal per game. Injured late in the season, Embiid returned to aid his team towards securing a playoff spot, showing dedication despite not being at full strength.
