ESPN analyst JJ Redick has responded to the growing speculation linking him to the Los Angeles Lakers' head coaching job this offseason. Redick, who is set to call the NBA Finals alongside Mike Breen and Doris Burke, made it clear that his focus is on his broadcasting duties for the Finals, rather than entertaining rumors about coaching opportunities.

In an interview on "GoJo and Golic," Redick stated, "My focus is on the NBA Finals. In terms of Shams, that will be addressed once the season is over. I'll just say that." This came in response to a report by The Athletic's Shams Charania, which stated that Redick has emerged as a frontrunner for the Lakers' coaching position.

According to the Los Angeles Times, there have been no contract discussions between Redick and the Lakers at this time. The team's search for a new head coach has reportedly narrowed down to two candidates: Redick and New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego.

Despite the speculation surrounding his coaching future, Redick expressed his appreciation for his broadcasting role during the NBA Finals. "I am so fortunate that I am in this position and I get to call these Finals with Doris and Mike," he added. Redick also highlighted his other commitments, including hosting various podcasts and fulfilling obligations with partners.

It is worth noting that Redick clarified towards the end of the interview that he is considering multiple job opportunities, stating, "Hold on, I don't mean any job. I mean jobs." This revelation suggests that other NBA teams may also be considering the ESPN commentator for coaching positions.

Redick, who played 15 seasons in the NBA, has garnered coaching interest in the past, including from the Toronto Raptors last year. However, he has yet to secure a head coaching job in the league.

While the Lakers' coaching vacancy remains open, Redick remains focused on his role as a broadcaster for the NBA Finals. The speculation surrounding his potential coaching career will be addressed once the season concludes.
